Malian Villagers Empowered to Fight Poverty
Mali is home to some of the world's poorest, weighed down by political turmoil, poverty, food shortages and illiteracy. Rural villages in particular are plagued by malnutrition along with high maternal, infant and child mortality rates.
With your help, an entire village can fight poverty and dramatically improve the lives of women and girls, along with men and boys. SIS works with one village at a time to install a well and grinding mill; build and stock a health clinic; construct and fund Malian teachers for an elementary school.
Per village, an average of 700 villagers will benefit from improved food supplies, clean water and healthcare. In each community, as many as 200 children will be able to attend school.
As their physical needs are met, the villagers are more trusting of the Christian workers and more open to learning about Jesus.
